Southern Wisdom

Got a kick out of this postcard. Click on it and it will enlarge so you can read it better or read on:

SOUTHERN WISDOM

1) Don't name a pig you plan to eat.
2) A bumble bee is faster than a John Deere tractor.
3) Don't skinny dip with snapping turtles
4) Two can live as cheap as one, if one don't eat.
5) Trouble with a milk cow is she won't stay milked.
6) To know how country folks are doing, look at their barns, not their houses.
7) Don't sell your mule to buy a plow.
8) Don't corner something meaner than you.
9) Keep skunks, bankers and lawyers at a distance.
10) Never lay an angry hand on a kid or an animal, it just ain't helpful.

TAG....You're IT!

I have been tagged with another fun game. This one comes from my friend and fellow Spirit Jumper, Tonya, at Small Town Louisiana Girl

The rules:

1. Respond and rework; answer the questions on your blog, replace one question that you dislike with a question of your invention, add one more question of your own.

2. Tag other people.

What is your current obsession?

Trying to get my candle business going and making it productive.

What are you wearing today?
A sleeveless shirt with "Spring" colored stripes, pink shorts and sandals.

What’s for dinner?
Hmmmm.......dinner? Not hungry. Maybe I'll want something later.

What would you eat for your last meal?
I would probably skip my last meal to use the time with my son.

What relaxes you the most?
Hot, steamy bath with "something special" in the water.

If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go?
I would head for a little cabin in the mountains, overlooking the lake.

Which language do you want to learn?
I have always wanted to learn French, of course, Spanish is what I "need" to learn.

What do you love most about where you currently live?
I like the central location, but would prefer to live in the country.

What style is your current home decorated in?
Haven't spent much time decorating. I use lots of neutrals with bunches of charm.

If you were a time traveler what era would you live in?
I would want to live in Medieval times. I love castles.

What is your favorite color?
Turquoise

What is your favorite piece of clothing in your own wardrobe?
Not sure, but I am betting it would be SHOES.

What were you doing ten years ago?
I was working as a police officer and going through the police academy.

Describe your personal style?
Casual Comfort

If you had $300 now, what would you spend it on?
Probably something to do with my son, Cody.

What are you going to do after this?
Work on some blog posts.

What are your favorite films?
I like the Action movies and Thrillers.

Your favorite books?
I read a lot of books by Patricia Cornwell, James Patterson, Jeffery Deaver, Dean Koontz....crime and FBI thrillers.

Do you collect anything?
I have a collection of Wolves: plates, statues, etc.....

What makes you follow a blog?
I look at content, personality, language...

What was the most enjoyable thing you did today?
I attended a twitter baby shower party and won a door prize!

Ann's Question:
What makes you comment on a blog?
I love to correspond with the writers. Most put a lot of thought and work into their blogs, so I try to let them know that they are doing a good job and that their content is enjoyable.

Amy's Question:
What is your favorite thing to do when you have some free time?
In my free time, I like to relax, do a little reading or, maybe, take a nap.

Anissa's Question:
As you know I homeschool -- If you could would you? Already do?
Do you agree with homeschooling?
I think it depends on the situation. Some children are "kept away" from the world and do not learn to socialize in "normal" everyday situations. I know a child now who is in this situation.
Other children, have no social problems. They are treated the same as other children, they participate in community activities, church, etc....they are well adjusted.

Tonya's question:
What is a talent you wished you had?
I wish I could draw. I love the work of artists and envy them that talent. Also, I write children's books and, if I could illustrate them myself, it would save a lot of many when publishing.

My question:
As you may know, I am all about "Serene Moments", so what is your "Serene Moment"?

Now, I am tagging:

Vickie at Vickie's Scrapbooking and Tidbits
Janet at A Room of My Own
Noelle at Lil' Bits and Pieces of Me

Enjoy the game and, please, Pass It On!

Not Feeling Serene.....CHEER ME UP!

My friends, I am not feeling SERENE today. Ann's question on meeting your soul mate, probably didn't help.

Here's our story, shortened, then you can read my "POUTY" story:

I met my Ollie four years ago. I was working as a security guard at Frito Lay and he was a overseeing a conveyor installation. We spoke for several weeks before he hinted at us going out. I was then moved to another location to do security and was a little sad that I didn't hear from him.

About a month later, the security company decided to put me back at Frito Lay and, lo and behold, he was still there. He immediately took my number and set up a date. We've been together ever since.

Ollie told me later that he wasn't sure I was serious about being around him but, after me leaving once and him missing out, he wasn't taking another chance.

Ollie and I are 18 years apart. I have been divorced for 16 years and, for him, its been 30, so we were both skeptical, but it works. We are so much alike and he is really good to me. Of course, I spoil him rotten. Neither of us has ever known a relationship such as ours.

We are so in love and loving every minute of it!

Now, my "Pouty" story:

Ollie returned from doing a job in Milwaukee, Wisconsin about 3 weeks ago and had to leave today to do a job in Schuyler, Nebraska. It is scheduled for 9 months, but, generally, these jobs go over. He'll get to come home a weekend each month, plus a week for Thanksgiving and about 3 weeks for Christmas.

Ollie is a self employed "site coordinator". Basically meaning that companies pay him to go to their job sites and oversee the work, keep them on budget and on schedule. It almost always means he'll be gone for weeks, months....this one, possibly will drag out to close to a year.

ME NO HAPPY!

So, CHEER ME UP!

Tell me about your SERENE MOMENTS!

Thanks for listening!

Happy VGNO!

Tag! I'm it, too!

My sweet friend, Michelle, at Lollypops and Lizards has photo tagged me.

How do you play? You need to go to your first photo file and choose the 10th photo. Then, well, you post it!

Here is mine:

This photos was taken at a local carnival. The cutie pie in the front of the carnival car is my son, Cody! He was 4. Now, he's 19. Back then, he had solid white hair with ringlets. It was beautiful. For my older readers, it looked like Shirley Temple's hair.

The little man in the middle, is my nephew, Alex, then the one in back is his brother, Kurtis. They are my oldest sister's sons.

Okay, time to tag someone else. Actually, 5 someone's:

1. Tabitha at Total Randomness

2. Joy at The Insane Writer

3. Betsy at Joyful Reflections

4. Carolee at Working in my Jammies and Loving it

5. Susan at Secrets of a Suburban Soccer Mom

Have fun!

SUMMER FUN AT PAPPA'S HOUSE

A couple weekends back, Ollie and I got to "steal" two of his Grandbabies for the weekend. It was such a wonderful time.

They swam in the river and we roasted hotdogs and made some S'mores...Two days of absolute FUN!

Kailey is striking a pose for the camera.

Here's Maggie. Isn't she cool? Why must kids play with your sunglasses?

Ollie, Maggie and Kailey roasting hotdogs.

Here's a pick of Ollie. You can't tell it, but he's roasting a hotdog. He was "wise" enough to use hickory wood for the fire, so it was so HOT you could barely stand it. He's laughing at himself for trying to roast the hotdog with his eyes closed to the heat.

Oh, you ever get the feeling that someone/thing is watching you? Well, it is at Ollie's. This is our "Deer" in the yard. He keeps a watch over us.

Beautiful Lilies

I was so excited to finally see them bloom. This is probably my favorite color of all the lilies.

SERENE MOMENTS

This week, I was honored, among other things, with a Free Twitter Background (pictured above), designed by Marianna at Mariz Creations. It was part of a contest she ran to bring awareness to Spirit Jump the organization that I featured here a short time back.

Pictured below, is my new button designed by Diana at Diana Rambles Custom Blog Designs. I was not chosen as the winner for her custom blog design but she did choose me for her Visitor of the Week. Feel free to grab my button.

If you like the work shown here, give these ladies a visit and see what they can do for you.
